WE SUPPORT UKRAINE
We stand in solidarity with Ukraine. We have made a contribution to UNHCR and are currently organizing community fundraising efforts to increase our support.
VENEZUELA EDUCATIONAL AND MEDICAL SUPPLY RELIEF
Merrill House aims to be more than business, but rather a socially-conscious venture. Our owners, Jordan and Evert, have founded VEMSR, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical educational and medical supplies and food to desperate Venezuelan schools and hospitals. VEMSR is funded jointly by Jordan and Evert and through the support of Merrill House. Merrill House is the platform for fundraising and raising awareness for these crucial issues. When you support Merrill House, you support some of the most needy and vulnerable children and sick people in the world. To learn more or make a donation, click here.
ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
Merrill House is dedicated to anti-racism and the promotion of equality and freedom. We have been sharing a multitude of resources on social media related to the Black Lives Matter movement including relevant statistics and action methods. We have developed a new Anti-Discrimination Policy that outlines zero-tolerance for racism, racist jokes, racial slurs, overt and passive prejudice including religious, gender and sexual identity discrimination, and the promotion of fascism or oppression. If you would like to submit suggestions for our Anti-Discrimination Policy, please forward them to us.
SUSTAINABILITY AND PHILANTHROPY
Merrill House is proud to be committed to operating with environmental sustainability at the forefront of its development. Recently, Merrill House has invested over $500,000 in environmental projects such as: replacing plastic toiletry bottles with durable dispensers, avoiding wasting thousands upon thousands of plastic bottles; replacing all the windows in the 14 bedroom house with double-glazed, thermal windows; increasing the utilization of recycling programs; reducing food waste; replacing old and inefficient equipment; and installing a state-of-the-art energy management, heating, air conditioning and ventilation system.
Merrill House is proud to support many local and international organizations in their fight to make this world a kinder, happier, healthier and safer place where the environment and the arts are protected and promoted. We support: local theatre and performing arts programs such as Festival Players and The Regent Theatre, independent foundations such as museums and Historic Royal Palaces, environmental protection organizations, and LGBTQ+ rights and human rights organizations such as UNHCR and Rainbow Railroad.
